Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! (※Muri ja Nakatta!?)

Renako Amaori enters high school determined to bury her isolated past and build a more outgoing version of herself. She quickly joins the social circle of famous model Mai Ouzuka, but maintaining a personality that does not feel like her own exhausts Renako until she finally breaks down and shows Mai her real vulnerability.

Renako believes their honesty has created the perfect friendship, only for Mai to confess her love the next day. To settle the disagreement, they decide to spend time alternately as best friends and as a couple, testing which relationship suits them. Renako is determined to prove friendship is enough, but Mai's increasingly bold affection makes the answer less certain with every encounter.
