Dororo

During Japan's Warring States period, Lord Daigo Kagemitsu asks twelve demons to save his land and grant it prosperity, paying with the body of his unborn son. The child is born missing much of his body and abandoned in a river, but a physician finds him and gives him prosthetic limbs, raising him as Hyakkimaru.

Hyakkimaru discovers that killing the demons restores the parts taken from him, so he begins hunting them across the country. Along the way he meets Dororo, a young thief who chooses to travel beside him. As sight, hearing, and sensation gradually return, Hyakkimaru gains more than a body: he experiences pain, compassion, and anger for the first time, while reclaiming himself threatens the prosperity his father built upon that sacrifice.
