Versailles no Bara

Oscar François de Jarjayes was born a daughter but raised as the son her father wanted, trained in swordsmanship and military command until she became an officer of the royal guard. Her life becomes entwined with Marie Antoinette when the young Austrian princess arrives in France to marry the future Louis XVI and enter the dazzling, unforgiving court of Versailles.

Oscar serves the crown from inside a world of privilege, yet she cannot ignore the hunger and anger growing beyond the palace gates. As Marie Antoinette struggles with duty, desire, and the expectations of queenship, Oscar is pulled between her class, her own heart, and a country moving toward revolution.
