Versailles no Bara (Movie)

Marie Antoinette, daughter of the Austrian empress, arrives in France to marry Crown Prince Louis and become the human link in an alliance between two kingdoms. At Versailles she meets Oscar François de Jarjayes, captain of the Royal Guard, a woman raised as a boy by her father so she could inherit the family’s military tradition.

A friendship forms between the young princess and Oscar, but the passing years turn the difference between their lives into a conflict that cannot be ignored. Marie Antoinette sinks deeper into courtly luxury while poverty and anger grow outside the palace, and Oscar begins seeing the France beyond its gates. Torn between her oath to the crown and the suffering of ordinary people, she faces a revolution in which loyalty and justice may no longer point in the same direction.
