Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun

Shizuku Mizutani measures life in grades, study schedules, and results. Friends are distractions she can do without, so delivering class notes to the frequently absent Haru Yoshida should be a simple errand. Instead, the feared troublemaker decides almost immediately that Shizuku is his first real friend and, with the same startling directness, tells her that he likes her.

Haru is impulsive, lonely, and far gentler than his reputation suggests, while Shizuku understands equations much better than emotions. Their awkward connection keeps pulling both of them toward classmates, friendships, jealousy, and feelings neither knows how to handle. For two teenagers who are equally inexperienced with people in very different ways, learning to care for someone becomes the hardest subject they have faced.
