After Spearhead disappears into Legion territory, Shin and the surviving members are rescued by the Federal Republic of Giad, where they receive citizenship and a genuine chance to live as free people. They try the peaceful life they were denied for so long, but years on the battlefield have made normality feel strangely distant, and before long they choose to enlist again. Joining the Nordlicht Squadron, they are accompanied by Frederica, a young girl whose unusual ability is tied to the Legion's past. Meanwhile, Lena continues fighting within San Magnolia. Across the distance separating them, a massive Legion offensive draws closer and threatens to make any reunion more difficult than ever.
