Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu are close friends facing the painful prospect of being separated after graduation. Before they can decide what their future will look like, a strange creature named Mokona appears and Tokyo becomes the target of forces from the magical realm of Cephiro.

Guided by Clef, the three girls awaken powers linked to mighty Mashin and are forced to defend the city they know from enemies who treat Earth as part of a larger magical struggle. Their familiar friendships remain at the center of the battle, even as this new Cephiro proves far darker and more dangerous than anything they expected.
