Death Note: Rewrite

A curious Shinigami asks Ryuk about the human world, prompting him to remember the young man who made his visit there unforgettable. Light Yagami, a brilliant student disgusted by crime, finds the Death Note and begins killing criminals in the belief that he can build a perfect world with himself as its god.

The unexplained deaths draw the genius detective L into a battle of deduction and deception against the unseen killer known as Kira. Even after that duel changes forever, the struggle over Kira's identity and legacy passes to Near and Mello, while Ryuk watches a human dream of absolute justice consume everyone who comes near it.
