Red Bean still has one uncomplicated dream: to be eaten. Four rounds of working inside desserts have somehow failed to make that happen, yet he keeps reporting for duty among sweets with the same stubborn optimism. Pearl Li Jianxun, Aloe Anthony, Goji Berry Jianguo, and the rest of his food-world friends are never far from the strange little problems that fill his days.

New dishes place Red Bean among unfamiliar ingredients and new personalities, widening his tiny world beyond the friends he already knows. Every job offers another chance to fulfill his ridiculous ambition, but the detours, friendships, and unexpected experiences along the way often become more memorable than the goal itself.
