Saybil studies at the Royal Academy of Magic without remembering anything about his life before arriving there. His grades are the lowest in the school, and he does not even understand why he possesses such an unusual supply of magical power. Headmaster Albus sends him on special training to the south with the witch Loux, Holt, and Kudo, tasking them with helping magic take root in a region where people still fear witches only a few years after the war with the Church ended. The road is dangerous because former witch hunters have not all abandoned their beliefs. If Saybil fails, his memories of the academy will be erased, turning the journey into a final chance to find a place for himself and perhaps the truth behind his missing past.
