Kaguya-hime (1972)

A bamboo cutter discovers a tiny princess inside a shining stalk and brings her home, where she grows with impossible speed into the beautiful Kaguya-hime. News of her beauty reaches powerful suitors, but Kaguya has no intention of being claimed simply because others desire her.

She sets impossible tasks for the men seeking her hand, exposing greed and false devotion one by one. Yet the greatest obstacle is not any earthly suitor: Kaguya carries a secret connection to the moon, and the day will come when the world that gave her to the bamboo cutter asks for her return.
