Mushishi Zoku Shou: Odoro no Michi

Tanyuu Karibusa asks Ginko to investigate an abandoned village where dead wood and ruined houses have inexplicably begun sprouting lush new growth. The area falls under the watch of Kumado Minai, head of a lineage of mushishi whose family has spent generations serving the Karibusa clan and guarding a secret tied to an exceptionally dangerous mushi.

Following Kumado, Ginko enters the Path of Thorns, a hidden route through which mushi flow into the human world. The deeper they travel, the stranger and more lethal the life around them becomes. For Ginko, the journey is not only about the revived village; it also exposes the grim price the Minai family has paid to contain an ancient threat and the reason its members seem to have surrendered so much of themselves.
