Takeru Shirogane carries memories of worlds where the war against the BETA ended in catastrophe, driving him to push Alternative IV toward completion before the same fate can repeat. With training behind him, he and his comrades enter real combat just as the project reaches a decisive stage. Knowing what may happen does not protect Takeru from trauma. A brutal attack shatters his confidence, and even escaping into another reality cannot provide the refuge he wants.
