Kotori brings Yuma to their school's gymnastics club to support her friend, where they meet Taiki Kimura, the club's talented ace. A recent defeat has crushed Taiki's confidence so badly that he plans to give up gymnastics altogether.

Yuma refuses to watch someone abandon what he loves because of one loss. Rather than offering a speech, he challenges Taiki to a Duel, hoping the intensity of the cards can remind the discouraged athlete what it means to face failure and keep moving forward.
