Sumikko Gurashi Movie 1: Tobidasu Ehon to Himitsu no Ko

The Sumikko friends discover an old picture book in a café basement and are suddenly pulled inside, where they tumble through stories such as Momotaro, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Little Mermaid. Among these worlds they meet a small gray chick who does not know where it came from or which story it belongs to. Penguin? feels an immediate connection because it also lives with uncertainty about its own identity, so the group decides to help the child find a home. When the fairy-tale pages begin collapsing into one another and a route back to the real world finally appears, the Sumikkos face a painful question: what can they do if their new friend is unable to leave the book with them?
