Reki Kyan lives for skateboarding and waits for night to enter S, a dangerous secret downhill race held inside an abandoned mine. After an injury temporarily keeps him off his board, he meets Langa Hasegawa, a transfer student from Canada who knows nothing about skateboarding but spent years snowboarding. An accident forces Langa into a race, where his experience on snow turns into a style unlike anything the local skaters have seen. Reki is thrilled by his talent and begins teaching him, but S is more than a hobby: its rivalries are fierce and some racers deliberately push danger to extremes. As Langa rises quickly, the friendship built between a boy who loves making boards and one who loves riding them is tested.
