Kimi ni Todoke

Sawako Kuronuma's long dark hair and quiet manner remind her classmates of a horror-film character, earning her the nickname Sadako and a collection of ridiculous rumors. In reality, Sawako is gentle, painfully shy, and wants nothing more than to make friends without frightening people away. Her world begins to change when Shouta Kazehaya, the cheerful and popular boy in her class, treats her as an ordinary person from the start. With his encouragement, Sawako slowly reaches out to classmates and learns to express what she feels. Friendship and first love, however, demand something harder than enduring gossip: finding the courage to speak before other people decide what her silence means.
