Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED

In Cosmic Era 71, the Coordinator-led ZAFT is at war with the Earth Alliance, whose forces are largely composed of Naturals. Coordinator Kira Yamato is living peacefully on the neutral colony Heliopolis when ZAFT attacks to steal five secret Gundam mobile suits developed by the Alliance.

The raiders capture four, while Kira is forced into the fifth, the Strike, to save his friends. In the middle of the attack he comes face to face with his childhood friend Athrun Zala, now a ZAFT soldier and one of the attackers. Kira joins the crew of the Archangel to protect the people around him, but doing so makes him a combatant against his own kind and his closest friend in a war that demands everyone choose only one side.
