Sword Art Online

On the launch day of Sword Art Online, thousands of players enter the floating world of Aincrad through the NerveGear headset and discover that the logout command has vanished. The game's creator announces that escaping requires clearing all one hundred floors, and dying inside the virtual world will kill their real bodies as well. Kirito, a former beta tester, has knowledge that gives him an advantage, but he initially chooses to fight mostly alone. His path eventually crosses with Asuna, a gifted swordswoman equally determined to reach the end. Boss battles, deaths, friendships, and love turn the struggle to leave Aincrad into a life neither of them can dismiss as merely virtual.
