Shuu Ouma's quiet life changes when he meets Inori Yuzuriha, a singer secretly connected to the resistance group Funeral Parlor. An encounter with the stolen Void Genome grants Shuu the King's Power, allowing him to draw physical manifestations of people's hearts from their bodies and use them as weapons.

That power pulls him into Funeral Parlor's struggle against GHQ, the organization ruling Japan after the devastating outbreak known as Lost Christmas. As Shuu is forced to fight beside Gai Tsutsugami and learn what his classmates conceal inside themselves, his feelings for Inori deepen and the line between ordinary student and participant in a rebellion disappears.
