Hi no Tori: Uchuu-hen

Far from Earth, a spacecraft crew is shaken by the unexplained death of Makimura, who leaves behind a disturbing message suggesting that someone intended to kill him. With their vessel failing, the survivors abandon ship in separate escape pods, only to notice Makimura's pod silently following them through space.

Suspicion falls on Kizaki, whose rivalry with Makimura involved their crewmate Nana, but the mystery grows stranger as fragments of Makimura's past surface. His story is tied to the Phoenix, the legendary bird said to possess the secret of eternal life.

After the survivors reach an apparently desolate planet, jealousy, obsession, and the pursuit of immortality begin revealing the truth behind Makimura's death and the eerie presence that has followed them.
