Hi no Tori: Yamato-hen

Prince Oguna, the youngest son of Yamato's ruler, is ordered by his father to infiltrate Kumaso and kill its leader, Takeru Kawakami. Shortly after arriving, Oguna is accidentally struck by an arrow fired by a local huntress named Kajika, who takes responsibility and brings the wounded stranger to her village.

Affection grows quickly between them, until Oguna learns that Kajika is Takeru's younger sister. Torn between the woman he loves and the duty imposed by his family, he seeks guidance from the immortal Phoenix that watches over Kumaso. The answer cannot remove the choice before him: betray Yamato, or destroy the family of the person who saved his life.
