A decisive battle is approaching in Leyte Gulf, forcing the naval forces to reorganize for a major strike against the Abyssal Fleet. Shigure is assigned to the First Striking Force, Third Section, a formation made up of only a handful of remaining Fleet Girls. Their role already resembles a sacrifice: draw the enemy in and face it head-on so the larger operation has a chance to succeed.

Each member carries the scars of earlier battles and losses, and Shigure is determined not to watch another comrade disappear in front of her. As the fleet advances into increasingly dangerous waters, the bonds between the girls become the last thing they can rely on. The mission will test more than their firepower; it will test what they can endure when none of them can be certain that everyone will return.
