Kyoukai Senki

In 2061, Japan is divided among four foreign economic blocs that enforce their rule with humanoid combat machines known as AMAIM. Sixteen-year-old Amou Shiiba keeps to the margins of that world, finding comfort in salvaged machinery and secretly rebuilding a unit called Kenbu. Meeting an autonomous AI named Gai turns that private project into the start of a life Amou never planned. One incident leaves him hunted and branded a terrorist, with no simple way back to normality. As he encounters people resisting the occupation, Amou must decide whether Kenbu will remain his escape from reality or become the means to fight for a future the occupiers do not control.
