Macross Zero

One year before humanity's first war with the Zentraedi, Earth is already divided by conflict between the U.N. forces and the Anti-U.N. alliance. Fighter pilot Shin Kudo is shot down during battle and washes ashore on Mayan Island, an isolated community where ancient beliefs matter far more than modern machines.

As Shin recovers beside sisters Sara and Mao Nome, both armies converge on the island in search of a mysterious artifact connected to an ancient legend known as the Bird Human. Prototype variable fighters clash overhead, but the deeper struggle concerns humanity's origins and whether the power buried beneath Mayan should ever have been awakened.
