Perman (1983)

Mitsuo Suwa is an ordinary schoolboy until an alien peacekeeper called Birdman selects him to become Perman. A special helmet gives Mitsuo extraordinary strength, a cape lets him fly, and a badge allows him to communicate with other Permans and survive in places where an ordinary child could not.

Being a hero would be easier if Mitsuo did not also have school, family, and a secret identity to protect. A copy robot can take his place while he is away, but the substitute creates problems of its own. Between rescues and ridiculous misunderstandings, Mitsuo learns that keeping the peace can be much harder than receiving superpowers.
