Naze Ikiru: Rennyo Shounin to Yoshizaki Enjou

Ryouken has little patience for temples or monks, and places his hopes for a better life in the child his family is expecting. When a sudden tragedy takes everything from him, grief leaves him with no reason to move forward.

In that darkness, Ryouken encounters the teachings of Rennyo and begins searching for an answer to a simple but painful question: why live? He eventually becomes Rennyo's disciple, but their growing following draws hostility from rival religious forces. Driven out of Kyoto, teacher and student travel north to Yoshizaki, carrying their beliefs into an uncertain new chapter.
