Uchuu Kyoudai: Number Zero

Hibito Nanba receives the exceptional honor of serving as backup crew for veteran astronaut Brian Jay's lunar mission, yet doubts that his own ability justifies the choice. Brian becomes both mentor and model, teaching the younger man to embrace the painful as well as joyful parts of an opportunity few ever receive.

When Brian dies in an accident returning to Earth, Hibito's dream falters and human spaceflight itself is reconsidered. Meanwhile, Mutta has buried their childhood promise beneath an unsatisfying career, but his brother's grief forces him to remember the courage that first made them look toward space together.
