Araiguma Rascal

In rural Wisconsin, young Sterling North finds an orphaned raccoon kit after a hunter kills its mother. With his own family under strain, his mother seriously ill and his older brother away at war, Sterling brings the tiny animal home and names him Rascal.

Rascal's curiosity fills Sterling's days with affection, mischief, and trouble as the raccoon grows from a helpless kit into an increasingly independent wild animal. Their friendship gives Sterling comfort through a difficult year, but it also forces him to confront a painful truth: loving a wild creature does not necessarily mean keeping it forever.
