Old woodcarver Geppetto fashions a boy from a branch cut from a mighty oak, and a fairy answers his lonely wish by giving the puppet life. The wooden child, Mokku, dreams of becoming a real human, but his innocence is matched by selfishness, stubbornness, gullibility, and a habit of making the same painful mistakes.Each encounter outside Geppetto's home tests Mokku's honesty, compassion, and courage. Cruel people exploit his naivety, temptation repeatedly leads him astray, and the road toward humanity becomes a harsh education in what it truly means to act like a good person.
