Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken (TV)

Dai has grown up as the only human on Dermline Island, surrounded by peaceful monsters and dreaming of becoming a hero. When the Dark Lord Hadlar, once defeated by the great hero Avan, returns under the command of an even more powerful evil, the monsters fall under a sinister influence and Dai's quiet home becomes a battlefield.

Avan arrives to train Dai and his student Popp, but Hadlar attacks before their training can be completed. Faced with overwhelming loss, Dai awakens a mysterious power marked on his forehead. He and Popp then leave the island, beginning a journey to master their abilities, gather allies, and challenge the forces threatening the entire world.
