Every 60 years, celestial animal spirits compete in the ETM12 ritual for a place among the 12 guardians of the Chinese zodiac. Nyaa-tan, the cat spirit excluded from that honored circle, refuses to accept her position and sets out to collect a seal from each reigning zodiac guardian.

Her powers depend on Sol/Lull, energy born from positive human emotions, and she finds an unusually rich source in the kindhearted Takeru Amato. Moving into his home brings Nyaa-tan into constant conflict with the guardians, but her noisy quest also begins uncovering an old mystery behind the cat's absence from the zodiac.
