Akira Kiyose sings online under the name KIKUNOYU without imagining himself as a professional idol. That changes when he is scouted by the agency sMiLea, founded by the retired legendary duo AneLa to develop new performers.

Akira joins Banri Naoe and Chihiro Isuzugawa to form Protostar while other groups inside the agency prepare for debuts of their own. Singing well is only the beginning; the young performers must learn stage presence, teamwork, and how to handle fear, comparison, and failure.
