Centuries after the world entered a slow collapse known as the Ruin, robots that once expected to live forever are rusting toward death. In the middle of this wasteland, Casshern awakens with no memory of who he is, only to discover that countless robots blame him for killing Luna and beginning the catastrophe.

A rumor claims that devouring Casshern can grant immortality, turning every desperate survivor into a potential hunter. As he wanders through the dying world, Casshern searches for the truth behind Luna, the Ruin, and his own regenerating body. Each encounter forces him to face the suffering left in his wake and decide whether someone created to destroy can find a reason to live.
