In 1983, East Germany is trapped between two nightmares. The extraterrestrial BETA are driving humanity's defenses backward, while the country's own secret police crush dissent from within. On the front line, Second Lieutenant Theodor Eberbach serves with the 666th Tactical Surface Fighter Squadron, a unit infamous for placing mission success above the lives of its pilots.

Under Captain Irisdina Bernhard, the squad specializes in brutal counterattacks against the BETA's laser-class forces. The arrival of the idealistic Katia Waldheim disrupts its cold discipline and draws the attention of the Stasi, forcing Theodor to navigate a battlefield where trusting the wrong human can be as deadly as facing the aliens outside.
