Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor - Right of Left

Before Tatsumiya Island can rely on the Fafners that may one day defend it, Yumi Ikoma and Ryou Masaoka are chosen to pilot the first combat units in a secret operation known as Plan L. Their task is to draw the Festum away from the island and keep humanity's refuge hidden.

The enemy can probe human minds, so even the mission's own participants are denied the full truth until there is no turning back. Isolated from the people they are protecting and facing an opponent that can erase both body and identity, the young pilots must endure a battle designed around sacrifice from the very beginning.
