Yuusha no Kuzu

In mid-21st-century Tokyo, wealthy criminals can turn themselves into superpowered Demon Lords through ether-enhancement surgery. Hunting them is legal work for Braves, bounty hunters who use the drug E3 to amplify their own ether abilities. Heroism in this city has little to do with shining ideals; it is a violent profession where contracts, money, and survival matter just as much as justice.

Yashiro, known as the Grim Reaper, is a skilled independent Brave who prefers pizza, beer, card games, and working alone. His routine collapses when high school trainee Aki Jogamine forces her way into his life as a self-proclaimed apprentice. Teaching an idealistic rookie is already more responsibility than Yashiro wants, but the cases that follow drag master and student into the power struggles of Demon Lords and Braves alike, forcing a cynical man to confront what being a hero might actually mean.
