Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

Mirai Onozawa takes her younger brother Yuuki to Odaiba during summer vacation while angry with her family and nearly everything around her. As the siblings visit a robot exhibition, a magnitude 8.0 earthquake strikes the Kanto region and turns an ordinary afternoon into collapsing roads, bridges, and buildings.

Stranded far from home with transportation destroyed, the children meet Mari Kusakabe, a motorcyclist and mother who is also trying to reach her daughter. She chooses to help them, and the three begin walking across a devastated Tokyo. There is no reliably safe route and none of them knows what happened to their families. During the long journey home, Mirai begins seeing both the city and the people she resented differently, while simply reaching her family becomes a test of courage she never knew she had.
