Ryuko Matoi travels with half of a giant Scissor Blade, searching for the person who murdered her father. Her only lead brings her to Honnouji Academy, a school ruled with absolute authority by student council president Satsuki Kiryuin. Powerful Goku Uniforms grant their wearers superhuman abilities, placing Satsuki's Elite Four at the top of a merciless hierarchy. After suffering a crushing defeat, Ryuko discovers a living uniform named Senketsu that bonds with her and gives her the strength to fight back. What begins as a personal hunt for answers soon expands into a much larger conflict as the secrets of the uniforms, Ryuko's past, and the forces behind the academy come together.
