Gegege no Kitarou (1996)

As towns and cities expand into places once belonging to youkai, old boundaries between the human and supernatural worlds begin to break down. Strange incidents follow, and Kitarou repeatedly steps in when angry, dangerous, or simply misunderstood youkai threaten people who have no idea what they have disturbed.

With Medama Oyaji and companions such as Neko Musume, Sunakake Babaa, and Konaki Jijii at his side, Kitarou confronts creatures born from ancient grudges and modern carelessness alike. His battles are not only about defeating monsters, but about preventing fear and greed on either side from destroying the fragile possibility that humans and youkai can coexist.
