Gegege no Kitarou (1985)

As modern society expands, humans increasingly disturb the natural world and forget the spirits that once lived beside them. The resulting anger divides the youkai: some want revenge on humanity, while others still believe the two sides can coexist.

Kitarou belongs to those who seek balance. Together with Medama-Oyaji and his unusual companions, he answers supernatural disturbances across Japan, confronting hostile youkai and human selfishness alike in the hope of protecting both worlds from destroying one another.
