Black Bullet

After the Gastrea virus devastated the world and transformed its victims into predatory monsters, the surviving population withdrew behind cities protected by massive Varanium barriers. Yet humanity's defense depends heavily on girls born with traces of the virus in their bodies, giving them extraordinary abilities while making them objects of fear and discrimination among the very people they protect.

Rentarou Satomi works for a civil security agency alongside Enju Aihara, one of these girls and his partner in combat. Together they take on Gastrea attacks and missions that threaten Tokyo, but the monsters outside the walls are only part of the danger. Every battle exposes a society willing to use the strength of the so-called Cursed Children while rejecting them, forcing Rentarou to confront what kind of world he is actually fighting to preserve.
