Hikari no Ou

In a world where natural flame can make humans combust simply by approaching it, civilization survives on a strange fire source found inside forest beasts and harvested only by skilled Fire Hunters. Touko, a girl from a remote village, is saved by a hunter who dies protecting her, so she is sent to the capital to return his dog Kanata and fire sickle to his family. There, his son Koushi lives with his younger sister under the care of a wealthy household while secretly researching an unusual firestone his father discovered. As Touko crosses a world she has never seen, Koushi moves closer to secrets surrounding the ruling family and humanity's source of energy. Above both journeys hangs a legend of the King of the Fire Hunters, drawing their separate paths toward a truth that may decide humanity's future.
