Hi no Tori 2772: Ai no CosmoZone

In the year 2772, Earth is exhausted and human life is manufactured to fit a rigid social order. Godo, a young cadet raised by the robot Olga, stands out for the compassion he shows to living creatures and machines alike. His exceptional skill eventually earns him a mission of enormous importance: find and capture the legendary Phoenix, whose immortality may hold the key to humanity's future.

Before Godo can begin that quest, his love for the president's daughter, Rena, puts him in conflict with the system that created him. Imprisonment, escape, and a journey into space force him to decide what kind of person he wishes to become.
