Gegege no Kitarou (1968)

Kitarou is one of the last survivors of the Ghost Tribe, a strange but compassionate boy who lives between the human world and the realm of youkai. When supernatural beings prey on people, cause unexplained disturbances, or upset the fragile balance between the two worlds, he steps in with his unusual abilities and the guidance of his tiny father, Medama Oyaji.

Alongside allies such as Neko Musume, Sunakake Babaa, Konaki Jijii, and the unreliable Nezumi Otoko, Kitarou confronts creatures drawn from old legends as well as threats born from human greed and fear. Not every youkai is evil, and not every human is innocent, leaving Kitarou to solve each strange encounter on its own terms.
