Hakaba Kitarou

Kitarou is born in a graveyard as one of the last survivors of the Ghost Tribe, with only his decaying father Medama Oyaji to guide him. Growing up on the edge between the human world and the realm of youkai gives him a view of both that is far less comforting than ordinary ghost stories.

Humans exploit what they do not understand, youkai prey on human weakness, and Kitarou himself is not always a gentle mediator. Wandering through this grim supernatural world, he encounters greed, cruelty, strange creatures, and dark humor while searching for a place where beings like him can exist.
