Mouryou no Hako

Yoriko Kusumoto's intense attachment to her classmate Kanako Yuzuki ends in horror when Kanako is struck by a train under mysterious circumstances. Detective Shuutarou Kiba, who witnesses the aftermath, becomes involved in a case complicated by Kanako's famous sister Youko and by a secluded, box-shaped medical facility where the injured girl is taken for experimental treatment.

Then Kanako vanishes. At the same time, severed limbs of young women begin appearing inside boxes, linking a missing-girl case to a series of grotesque crimes. Kiba joins writer Tatsumi Sekiguchi and the enigmatic Akihiko Chuuzenji to untangle family secrets, obsession, superstition, and carefully constructed deception before another girl disappears into the darkness.
