Shinseiki Evangelion

Fifteen years after the Second Impact, mysterious beings called Angels attack Tokyo-3 one after another. Conventional weapons are useless, so the organization NERV relies on giant Evangelion units that can only be piloted by selected teenagers.

Shinji Ikari is summoned by his distant father Gendo to pilot Eva-01 despite spending years believing his father abandoned him. He joins Rei and Asuka in battles that protect humanity while wearing down the pilots psychologically with every attack. As NERV reveals secrets involving the Angels, the Evas, and a project larger than the war itself, Shinji's greatest danger becomes as internal as it is external: how can he get close to other people without being hurt or hurting them in return?
