Saiyuuki Gaiden

Five hundred years before their journey in the mortal world, Goku arrives in Heaven as a strange golden-eyed child born from stone. The aloof Konzen Douji is reluctantly made his guardian, but Goku's openhearted nature gradually draws Konzen, Field Marshal Tenpou, and General Kenren into a bond unlike anything permitted by Heaven's rigid society.

Goku also befriends the lonely War Prince Nataku, a child burdened with responsibilities far beyond his years. When the powers surrounding the boys treat them as tools and tragedy pushes Goku beyond control, Konzen and his companions choose to protect him even if doing so makes them enemies of all Heaven.
