Gensoumaden Saiyuuki

Tougenkyou was once a land where humans and youkai lived together in peace, until a forbidden attempt to revive the demon king Gyumaoh released negative energy that drives youkai mad and turns them against humans. Monk Genjo Sanzo is ordered to travel west and stop the resurrection, accompanied by three companions who hardly resemble a holy party: Son Goku, Sha Gojyo, and Cho Hakkai. All three carry youkai blood, while Sanzo carries a gun and very little patience. The four cross villages, deserts, and dangerous roads while facing assassins, demons, and fragments of a past linking some of them more deeply than they know. Their mission sounds simple, but the journey repeatedly proves that the evil they seek does not always come from the direction they expected.
